Malware Detected

This game was made for the Global Game Jam 2026. 

'Malware detected' is a short, experimental game about interacting with a computer system that is gradually losing control. After accidentally infecting your machine, you must create an antivirus account and complete a series of familiar digital tasks before the virus fully compromises the system. As the infection spreads, pop-up ads multiply, input becomes unreliable, and interface elements begin to sabotage the player’s actions.

The game explores the theme of masks through deceptive user interfaces that present themselves as helpful, professional, and secure while actively working against the player. By masking hostility behind familiar software design, the game focuses on frustration, mistrust, and the anxiety of losing agency within systems that are meant to protect you.
